Google Android Nation Retail Store in India

Google will be partnering Spice Global to set up its first brick-and-mortar store called Android Nation in India. The store will push the penetration level of Android devices in the country. The first store will be set up in New Delhi’s posh Select Citywalk mall later this year as per sources, reports Economic Times.

Each Android Nation store will promote and sell Android smartphones and tablets across multiple brands. The store will also serve as an Android experience centre where customers can find out more about the latest Android apps, get help from experts, download software updates etc.

Google Android Store India
This is would be Google’s second Android store after the company opened its maiden store in Jakarta, Indonesia in mid 2012. The move clearly shows Google’s clear focus on Indian market.

Speaking on the partnership, BK Modi, chairman of Spice, said “The Company’s partnership with Google is not just restricted to India — Spice Global will also push Android devices in the Middle East, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Africa. Google was also supporting Spice Global in bringing China's third largest smartphone brand CoolPad, to India — Spice CoolPad co-branded products will also be sold through Android Nation.”

Modi's son Dilip Modi will be heading Android Nation in India.

Spice Global which currently operates around 900 Spice Hotspots that sells various mobile phone brands plans to convert about 50 of the Hotspots into Android Nation stores.

It is to be noted that Google’s competitors Apple and Microsoft already have retail outlets.
