Google Panda Update 23 Update

Google has confirmed rumors of a Google update announced on Twitter that they pushed out a Panda data refresh yesterday impacting about 1.3% of English queries.

This would make for the 23rd Panda update since the first Panda algorithm was introduced on February 24, 2011. Since then we had 22 updates both to the algorithm and also to the index or data refreshes came this year.

The latest impacted 1.3% of the queries, whereas version 22 impacted only 0.8% of English queries in Google.

We did see signs of a major update a week ago but Google told us there was no such update. Then again, I reported early signs of another update at the Search Engine Roundtable and Google confirmed it on Twitter.

Honestly, I am surprised they released a data refresh right before Christmas. Last year Google promised they would not update the Panda algorithm or do data refreshes until after the holidays – this year, I guess they decided not to wait.

Google allows 10 GB attachments Files in Gmail

If you feel the 25MB limit for attachments files in Gmail is not enough? The search giant has integrated Google Drive-based attachments in its email service so that users can now send files up to 10GB size. Google Driveis the company's cloud storage service, similar to Microsoft SkyDrive and DropBox services. 

On the official Gmail blog, Phil Sharp, Gmail product manager, posted: "you can insert files from Drive directly into an email without leaving your Gmail." He added, "...with Drive, you can insert files up to 10GB -- 400 times larger than what you can send as a traditional attachment. Also, because you're sending a file stored in the cloud, all your recipients will have access to the same, most-up-to-date version."

Google Panda Refresh or Update 22 Nov 2012

There is another Google update started around Friday November 16th confirmed by Google.
It is Panda refresh or update. But the discussion seems that it was a small Panda refresh this past Friday, November 16th.
If it is Panda refresh, this would only put about two weeks between Panda Update 21 and this Panda refresh on Friday 16 Nov 2012.
